Board Game Analysis and Rationale

Evaluation

The problem with the original game is that drawing the dots took too long, and sizes were often too big or too small. With my game this can be changed and it meticulously tested to make sure that using the small template will make a small game. The players can switch the size f the board at will. On top of the box is a glass or plastic surface. this allows the players to rub off their marks and see through the material.

The original game however was great for portability and for hiding. The game now is not like that. this box cannot be folded and hidden away, however on a bus or train or car this would be fine, but in class, it's not very inconspicuous

However my game is much better at making sure the players have the best experience.

However this product fails. The games' magic was anybody can play all you needed was a pen and some paper. This brings the same game to less people and for a price. Nobody in their right might would bother buying this.

Rationale

My game is a more streamlined, and more neat version of the Doctor Square, or Lines and Boxes game. There is a grid of dots. 2 or more people can play. There are many ways to play but this is my way: Each player takes turns in making 1 line. When a player finishes a square with 4 lines you write their letter or emblem or what have you to show they have earned a point. The game ends when every square is made. The winner has the most squares. Very simple, but opens up to deep strategy. Learn how to set up traps, turn switches, lures and an assortment of other strategies. Other ways to play also open up new ways to play. As i found playing the game one way drastically changes the game. For example a trap in one version will help the other player in another, and so the game provides longevity and replay.

1. One line each. No excuses.

2. The player makes a square and gains an extra line to use

3. Come up with your own variants.

Cold fusion BURN OUT ideas

1.

Cold fusion is taken up by investors and the original creator is now obsolete in he new political landscape. Cold Fusion takes the world by storm and by the end of the decade have a monopoly on almost every market. Breaking into viechles and food production, and computers. The company becomes a superpower and begins to pull the strings. Cold Fusion propaganda and signs and trucks. The business becomes an orwellian sort of deal. Everyone needs power, and they have it. Its not really that much of a stretch to consider coca cola and kfc beginning to run communities as leaders, especially if humanity expanded into space and the public can travel as they please, where current political systems would struggle to keep such a large space in line. Money reigns supreme and businesses do just that, make money. Power is a constant, when theres technology power is needed. No matter the time period, after the 21st century, power is needed. Perhaps a rival power comes about and it starts a war. Perhaps this war is made a s a marketing deal, where the public must buy weapons to protect themselves, and this need for protection is all a set up. People these days arguing over if coke or pepsi is best or mac and pc, but in actual war, where coca coal flies its banner, led by trails of tanks, against the massive walls of pepsi land, draped in pepsi propaganda. "It's just business. Nothing personal. No hard feelings right?"

Could be set after the war? (if a war)

during the build up?

chronological?

Perhaps focuses on the enforcers of the Cold Fusion police as they explore a city and go about their rounds.

Focusses on the scientist

focusses on a normal family coping with the change, as they go about their day, buying their breakfast ColdFusion.Co waffles, and going on the bus seeing the adverts and keeping in line with the enforcers. Perhaps there are no parents as the parents were taken for not following brand loyalty, being a traitor to the brand. Perhaps instead escapees being pursued by the police. This lets us see both sides of the story, rather then a one sided story where the police are faceless bad guys which is unrealistic.

Signs on people in the streets of brand traitors.

Instead of an anthem the cold fusion advert theme song plays as people put hands on hearts as sing.

I have an idea of the branding of the film. I could set it up like a product, or as a resistance poster.

Ambient theme song or parade music to hint at anthems. It's semi spooky.

Perhaps show adverts.

KEEP IT POSSIBLE AND CHEAP TO MAKE.

2. more detail

Characters in the family

Older sibling. Has taken parents place juggling responsibilities. is worn out, and more cynical. Is determined to escape the cold.co territory. is angry at the new government. works everyday, walks younger to school. everyday puts change in a big jar.

Younger sibling. happier and more full of life. finds it hard to remember parents and this makes her lonely but has her older sibling. never knew a life without cold.co and is ignorant of the past.using the old and new we can compare the different generations outlook on the new society. hates not knowing where she came from. leads to her not respecting her parents. this angers older.

A parent character. provides comfort and advice for the older character. reassurance and helps out. A softer approach then older sibling, and calmer and more gentle. helps older calm down, as older is often overwhelmed. a voice of reason. intelligent. tries to push the others in the right direction and keep out of trouble. would like to be romantic with older. actually really lonely, acts nice to fill that void.

A quiet kid who never speaks. older then younger. younger then older. lost parents and never got over it. Younger sibling is friends. older is almost amazed how not even remembering her parents she can still act like a mother. When they play house. younger asks what daddy and mummy would do in a situation. shows the damage cold.co can do.

And a person everyone mentions as going missing. is a revolutionary who got executed.

Black
Wakes up. eyes open. (close up on eyes, zoom out to head )see shift left. reaches for alarm clock on left ( shot from below side of the bed ) shot of time and the brand on alarm clock as hand lazily presses stop. previous shot.

Either before or after this dress up sequence wakes up younger

Shot on face one eye is open watching and when the older comes close it shuts and as hands shake shoulders attempts to not wake up, trying to contain laughter. shows their relationship.

Feet hit the ground, moderately dirty. left, right. Shot up on head, right of the screen. alarm on left. IN the space on the left title comes up. Music starts. person stands up. turns. shot over the shoulder at the mirror. tired, warn down. another day. gets dressed, slips on a shirt, legs shoved into trousers, see a straightened tie, black blazer perhaps pulled on and straightened from the side. see shoulder. hand brushes past a door as it shuts, from the side.

Feet down steps from side.
See some form of shot to show a breakfast table (preferably a shot of the stairs on the right in front of us, person slides around the banisters walks down a hallway on the right, which shows a table surrounded by people, in a bright room in comparison to the darker stairs)the younger one follows the same steps.

a shot from above geometry isometric as the two sit down coming from the left. one chair pushed away is empty.  put above a moving ceiling fan if possible.  two others sit there. the quiet one is spaced apart from the mature one. mature reads a newspaper. The older sits and pulls chair quickly knowing the younger will pull the chair. look back with a (not this time face). shot over the shoulder of older as they sit. eye peeks over the newspaper. shot from side of table on matures end. the younger happily walks around, left to right. and drags a chair to quiet. quiet becomes more responsive and smiles and looks to the left. younger talks and the quiet nods. shot over left shoulder of older, we see the little ones communicating. cereal boxes set apart the mature from the young and quiet. mature happy but envious and wishful of the younger ones. mature eyes gesture towards them, newspaper moving. trying to get a message to older. shot on older not getting the hint. shot on mature putting down a newspaper still left open and trying to somehow gesture a response from older. Older gets more confused. Shot to mature. Mature opens themselves up with their posture, hoping for a response.

mature:"Arnt you gonna say hi, good morning or anything to me?" (wants to be close but older pushes them away in fear of losing them like they lost their parents)
Older:"Oh oh, right. yeah, good morning.' (realising and trying to make for lost time) (eyes flash with surprise and then drift of in regret, and drift back to their bowl, careful to make sure they don't get too close with matures eyes, meeting for a second. shoulders slumped over a table, raised in surprise)
eyes switch to mature eyes getting happier, back to shot of older, as they slump over their bowl in embarrassment.
Mature; oh what am i going to do with you. You wont get a (opposite sex of mature) or a (same sex as mature) with that kind of a (mimics a deadpan straight face, moves head from side to side with each word)"good-morning" .
older; oh yeah? Like who? (semi interested, peeks over a raise spoon of cereal)
mature: we-well somebody...maybe..(terrible at hiding it), {looks for an escape, and thrusts a newspaper to hide themselves.}
Older:"Hopefully nobody as cryptic as you"
Shot to mature hiding behind paper, hands clench, and body drops more. Perhaps make a head slam sound, and plates jump, in insinuate a head slam behind the paper.

Shot to older head turns to wall, camera moves to clock. Moves back to older older is surprised and in shock. bowl is pushed towards camera. Shot on the side as boxes and jars and bags of sugar black. older reaches over to younger. grabs for younger shoulder .Face on older serious. WE GOT TO GO Quiet is giggling. young turns around to reveal balancing spoons on their nose.

"Do we have to?"

YES.

head is slumps, and spoon falls.
OK.

Shot from side as older drags younger through hallway by hand. shot outside as older swings out of door, see table through door,, younger says bye and waves. older says nothing. mature sighs wishfully.

As older walks quick pulling younger , shot from front, tie flying over shoulder, but hands are full. Shot to younger , above younger, we see older breast pocket. Younger looks up. Do I have to go to school?..head is is sad...its scary.

Older: life is scary (insert name ), but sometimes we have to do it anyway. realises the harshness. And hey, afterwords maybe i can get you some ice cream
"But its freezing" younger
..but its never too cold for ice cream! older
(possibly slip in ice)

Pass people in the street with the signs of Brand traitor they look sadly at the couple. Shot of behind the people. panning. we follow the walking pair and they go down the street. Hand is clenched tighter.

Reach school and say bye. older says how much they hate leaving younger alone.

Older leaves and gets to work, ability to show more world, possibly a bus or train full of cold co adverts.

Works in a supermarket all cold co. packs them all on shelves, cold co, coldco, coldco.
remembers back before. is good, but then turns bad. shot on eyes clenching and opening. weirded out customers carefully walk around older. sot from above to sow distance, possibly on top of an isle. we see the ridiculous pricing, and older offers the reason. as cold co has a monopoly they raise prices. in the turf. those born here cant escape. buying other products means...zones out

boss asks and says they might have to be let off if they keep zoning out. older makes it clear they cant lose this job. without it they cant escape. They have to steal food.

get back and bring younger home. perhaps stops bullies about parents. perhaps  today was all about parents and she had no idea what to say. Asks about parents. Older tells. this lets us know that they here killed for being brand traitors.

walk by the same place from the opposite side. same shot. older sees and covers younger eyes, and holds them close. Shot to head height as we walk by the heads, all chopped off. They hastily keep going.
Is that what happened to mummy and daddy?
..yeah.

walk back. through door, younger runs up stairs. shot from up stairs as younger runs up, older looking up. Looks at jar. walks by jar full of change and put some in. from the side.

Sits down watching TV of cold co ads. Mature and older talk about kids, and older knows he must talk t younger about parents but does not know what to say.

Goes up and shes crying, shot through door as older walks up to see her crying. Quiet is there unsure of what to do.

Parents story is told and about him trying to escape, and he tells her to keep going and we can do it.

Goes down , and says that does not know if they can do it. mature tells them to have faith. Talks about things follow a course. things are as they should be. fate.

Older is cynical and says how if this is fate, its terrible and stupid. and bad future.

(we show how older cannot risk making any form of connection in fear of losing it like losing their parents. pushing possible caring relationship, what older really needs to keep going)

sleeps and repeat in time lapse. after the morning, time lapse of the jar slowly filling up narration.

things changed. they found us.

Shot of door opening in school over younger shoulder.  it is the enforcers. she is scared, and has tears welling up, remembers parents death.

older sees enforcers walk, lip syncs and figures out they are searching for them. manages to escape knowing that younger is in danger. open window curtains billow in the wind, a classroom awe stuck, evidence of a struggle, table flipped, perhaps bullet holes in walls, perhaps collateral damage and death. blackboard or whiteboard shot at , or damaged. door swings from bashed hinges.

Older running and makes the audience understand that they know younger would run home.
younger is running older is running. younger running in to middle of screen, and older the opposite to the middle.

Pacific Rim

Act 1: We are told by narration not shown annoyingly about the breach in the pacific ocean. We  are told how it changed everything. We see Kaiju destroying city, but finally defeated along with boring narration. At least massive monsters are cool. We then hear about how we started winning the fight. We are shown cool imagery. The we hear about how we are losing again. This is recent.

We then open up to the Gypsy Danger bros. Both seemingly excited and content. The recent events have not taken their confidence down a notch. We see them suit up and the mech getting ready whihc is pretty cool. It helped hype the fight. We hear the brief that the city must be defended and the small sailing boat is not priority. The duo ignore the order, and it is seemly over. Then Knifehead wrecks Gypsy Danger and we see it collapse. We are shown how tough they are. We see main mans brother die which could make us care. not me, I was more interested in big robots punching monsters. What really lets this movie down is bad dialogue and acting. The fights are dynamic , the soundtrack is good, but the acting and delivery is terrible. At least from gruff robot batman guy. Thats probably why we all prefer to look at the emotionless robots anyway. Plus robots are badass. Especially punching awesome monsters and battering them with big transport ships as a makeshift bat.

Act 2 : I digress, we then see years later our hero all washed up working on a wall we soon see crumble before our eyes as it shows a kaiju walking through like it was nothing. We then hear about the abolishment of the Jaeger program, to create conflict. We see another Jeager Striker Eurika finish the kaiju. We see this is humanity's only hope and that might make an audience care. Our hero is then visited by the old commander dude. He is convinced to come back by a superior actor.

End of second act: After killing the kaiju and plummeting to earth the duo is greeted with cheers.

Act 1 Normal to death

Act 2 Training to battle

Act 3 Battle to finalle

Royalty-free, or RF, refers to the right to use copyright material or intellectual property without the need to pay royalties or license fees for each use or per volume sold, or some time period of use or sales.

- WIkipedia

A royalty-free (RF) image license is much less restrictive than an RM license. A user typically pays a one-time fee for a royalty-free image license and can then use the image as many times and in as many places as he chooses. The "free" in royalty-free does not mean there is no cost for the license, but instead refers to being able to freely use the image without paying additional royalties. A small-business owner, for example, may opt to pay a one-time fee for RF images for his website.

Must find more stock footage. Hopefully for free if I can... I need at least 2 mins of footage.

My "Factual" Joke story Film

I am planning on doing a factual 2 min film. I am hoping to make it a mockumentary about an explorer tracking a unseen animal, a beast of unmatched proportions. He attempts to convince the audience this animal exists, but all he does it show stock footage because there has never been any film of it, and he has in fact never seen it.

Uses Audio, and Stock Footage

I could film some scenes myself trying to act as the reporter in the British Wilderness, amongst the wild cars, and forests of streetlights and dustbins. It would give a sense of realism. And could open me up to some quite funny scenes.

This has slow-motion elephants. What more could you want?

This one has fish. :3

SQUIRREL!

I will have make sure these are royalty free...

There are 2 main kinds of audio in this footage. Implied sound of the snake moving to its prey. And the slow buildup of music to add to the chase and make tension. Diegetic and non-diegetic.

This kind of style of video, but obviously using random stock footage as footage has never been caught of this creature.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PMX5tg7rpo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmTCMBsW3PI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzoDwOBXFkY

Also I would like to do a video of this style, but it requires a lot more work.

This almost all narration in comparison, to the Nature documentaries. This is more historical and has more facts. It is used to explain information. Music and narration is used to keep the audience entertained as they are combined in fun and interesting ways.

I will be mimicking a ghost tv show or a myth tv show, so I should take note of their tropes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H8pcItYUfE (ghost hunters footage)

Black and white.infrared cameras tend to be typical tropes of the genre. Gives the aura of creepy, and of immersion.
normally narration accompanies the visuals.  Jump scare music on inanimate objects and so loud you cant hear the sounds they scream about..

Constant wild tracks. and Ambience to keep the audience on their toes. Rumbles. Loud transitions. Blade sounds. Very over the top.

Unidentifiable sounds that are used to disorientate and creep out the viewer as the sounds are unnatural. They often use infrared cameras and other weird filters to show heat etc.

Extra idea

I will have a scene of zooming in on historical photos or mocking modern ones.

Mimic the spooky black and white photos. use obviously modern architecture eg, works at carphone or tescos. Old buildings and skyscrapers. Use zoom ins, and panning shots, never keep the shots still.

Make it obvious that this story is fake by using such places, as eg the local tesco.

Mcdonalds hamburger in infrared. Using overdone to hell filters. All common in the genre.

Split screen for reactions to the events.

Media Product. How Does Audio help it reach an audence and convey meaning?

Here is Welcome To Nightvale - Episode 1 Pilot

Welcome To Nightvale is a story about a small desert town, and the strange happenings around and inside Nightvale. We hear the story from the radio station, as the presenter tells the news. This is an audio-show and completely rely's on audio. It uses music and sound effects as well as voice to tell it's story. The writing that is descriptive is really good at putting images into the minds of the audience. Music is used to add atmosphere such as fear, or trepidation.  Sound affects also help engross the audience and implant images into the minds of listeners. Voice is very important. Using tone and emotion you can get so much out of a sentence. When the presenter says "Carlos" he says it long and clearly, so we know it's important to remember and to listen.

However this although is a good show it does lack some things. Almost anybody can listen, unless they are deaf. People who may be hard of hearing could possibly use subtitles which are available on youtube, or if this was a live action show, they could lipread along with hearing, however personally this removes the mystery of the show. And if people find it hard to understand emotion, they may get less out of the show since the reliance of the voice, however they may get an equally big kick from the rest of the show.

I was thinking of choosing that 3rd option of a news report/documentary-esq kinda thing. I wanted to have that playful twist like this show has. Now this show has a massive fanbase that are loyal and follow each episode. My show will not do the same, but this shows how the medium can work. I was thinking of a documentary about pursuing some mythical creature. Of course the footage I will be using will be stock footage because footage of the creature has never been seen. The presenter will try convince people this creature exists through the 2 min show. Perhaps the creature attacks him in his studio tracing the radio wave, or perhaps he is silenced by some faceless organisation and replaced by a please standby message. Whatever the case, it could be quite good.

My Podcast

My 5up3r 4m4zin9 Unmi5t4k4bl3 Hi9h Qu41ity P0dc45t is finally complete! I used a pair of samsung headphones to record the podcast. After that, I edited it all in Premier, to make sure it came out understandable and not too loud or too quiet. I also added an intro and outro, as well as a backing track. After that I made some album art work (also 5up3r 4m4zin9 Unmi5t4k4bl3 Hi9h Qu41ity)

It's really good. It took me a mighty 3.25 mins to make. Personally I regret this. I am never getting these 3.25 mins back. This is what I spent my limited time on. 10/10-IGN "needs more Bananee and 133t plz"

I cannot upload the Podcast at this time, but you can already imagine how amazing it is, and you are absolutely right so I am sure I don't need to burst your bubble just yet.

After that I made it the album art and figured it all out. And then I uploaded it to my google drive. And now I am writing about it. What an epic saga I have found myself in.

Board game Production

Week 1

Brief

Must not be larger A3
Must include traditional elements
Must have a clear product identity
Clear Target Audience
Must not be harmful or hazardous

Research
Play Game
Look for other clones

My first idea was a sort of Labyrinth clone. Labyrinth is a game with a board. The board is made of pieces. Characters can add a piece to the board, which in turn pushes others out. I was thinking I could add possibly trap cards, and rooms and a chance for the losers to fight back. For example a player wanders into a room. Another play has the Rolling Boulder trap card. The boulder could roll over the player, or perhaps burst walls.

My idea in it's most basic form is

  • Collect Items
  • And when you have enough make it to the centre of the crypt or temple, etc

I had an idea where there was multiple floors to scale like a tower. I also had an idea where each player acts like Tron, where they leave a trail behind them, and if a player hit their trail, they get their item.

After Research

I did not find Labyrinth. Not really a surprise to me. However I did see the most common games such as Monopoly, Risk, Jenga, and Cluedo

I have done a few concepts for the board. I am trying my best to make this my ow game, then a carbon copy.

Bla Bla Lectures His Son On Life (Short Film)

Take from it what you will. A short film with terrible and boring audio so I spiced things up a bit with bla's and facefarts.

I r8 bla/10

The first shot is to set the scene.  We can see the one on the left speak, so we can match that voice with that person. We then hear the other one, and match a different voice to that one. Lefts legs are moving, perhaps he is nervous. The shot switches to an across from the side. This shows more of the scene. Both of their legs nervously move in unison, perhaps a bla bla custom. It also shows the one on the right larger, and the one on the left looking up to him. We see it is windy outside, but where they are, they are protected. A shot of 2 heads. Pause. Makes it a little awkward or tense. We see left hesitate. Right hears what he has to say and takes it in, slowly nodding. His jaw tightens and retracts, perhaps because he is stressed by what he is hearing being currently bla'd. Perhaps right is not pleased with the response or is thinking about what to say. Left may be a bit scared of what right may say. He then moves his head in a disregarding way, possibly trying to lighten the mood. A shot to the side of rights head. This gives left centre stage on his response, but right is enough in focus that we can see him too. Cut to the same, but for right. Perhaps he just bla'd something deep and philosophical. Whatever he does actually say, it seems more important now, especially with the light hitting his face. Cut to wide again. Left looks a little unsettled by what he just hear being bla'd and shows his discontent with a facefart, possibly another of these strange bla bla customs.

Animation

My favourite: I really cannot decide. The Fat Cat was really good, and so was all the others. Even the live action ones can be made really good, although I prefer staying away from that. I prefer when animation is smooth rather then very fidgety and jerky, although sometimes that can add to the aesthetic. All these styles all add up to create a different feeling, and I can't really criticise each, as many things are intentional, like messiness of animation leading to a fear of things acting not as they should, from the uncanny valley. The uncanny valley is much easier to reach with stop animation as the models are 3d. Tricking somebody a 2d image is truly alive is much harder, because it lacks that depth.

Drawing animation is also very useful, but it can be hard to show depth and life like stop motion can, although it is possible. Perhaps mixing the two could create something interesting. With drawn animation smoothness is much easier to produce because it is only 2D: one less dimension to worry about. The biggest problem with 2D animation is however drawing the characters as if they are 3D. Figuring out how that body works is quite tough, while with 3D we can see the whole model, which makes 3D movement much easier

A style I once saw did attempt to combine these types of animation, kind of, seen in "The Paper Man". Something about the style just hits a high note for me. I could watch it all day. The animators wanted to hint back to the old days of 2d animation, but wanted to use their software. So what they did is do it all in 3d and using some tools made it appear to be more like a drawing. The film personally really captures this, using all of 3d computer animation's potential, but making it seem 2d, making the 2d animations really impressive as they seem to be drawn not 3d computer animated.

Here's the video. Sorry for the annoying annotations.

Here's the link so you can watch it fill screen. https://youtu.be/1QAI4B_2Mfc

Turns out this is not the full film. At least you can see the style I was talking about.

Here's the whole thing, but at a lower quality. Best I could find on youtube.

Again not the full film, bot you see more then the last one.

Shots-Luke Skywalker Vs Darth Vader: The Empire Strikes Back FINISH

Opens with a shot tilted down, looking from above at the grate. As Luke shoots up the camera tilts up, to match his height, at a medium kinda shot. Then as the centre hits the back of Luke's head, the shot changes to wide shot. Still shot from behind, and at Luke's level. Luke moves from the centre to the left. The shot stays still. Luke is framed by the steam and by the black bar. His feet are covered in darkness, but he wears a white like gown, to stand out. He looks very small in comparison to his surroundings. This shows vulnerability The shot of the grate again. It closes, and the shot quickly pans left and up following Luke. Medium. Luke stands taller now, looking down at the grate. His head rises, and then turns left to a profile, before looking towards the camera again. Switch to a wide shot, Luke is on the right, and is small. We seen stairs lit up by orange light, a complete contrast from the dark blues, drawing our eyes up. Luke looks around. Close up to Luke as he turns around. Switch to shot of Darth Vader, far away, but in the same position as Luke's head was prior. He stands still among the plumes of gushing steam. Back to Luke, close up, his head taking up the left and centre of the frame. His face stays emotionless and still, but his neck and chest bob as if heavily breathing, but attempting to seem calm. His head glides from left to right across the frame and he walks. He leaves the frame, and the background is seen. Same shot of Darth Vader. Breaking in from the bottom left Luke, walks up the stairs as a black silhouette. Luke is visually closer. We see him rise and get more to Darth Vader's height, but just under. Switch to a shot over Vader's shoulder. We see Luke in front of an orange circle to catch out eye. Luke walks up a few steps and then slowly and hesitantly takes another step, as he reaches for his Lightsaber. His hands are by his side, but ready. Switch to the next shot. Same as before with Vader, but this time Luke is taller. The lights on the stairs are under Luke, but not Vader. Vader is turned towards Luke. A shot showing Luke's torso. His arms outstretch and his Lightsaber cuts through the centre of the frame. Shot to Luke and Vader on opposite sides. Luke is taller, and has his Lightsaber pointed towards Darth Vader. Although his body does not take up more space then Vader, with the help of the Lightsaber it seems like Luke is bigger. Darth Vader draws his Lightsaber with a slow overhead swing, with emphasises size. Cut to a closeup of Luke's face, as he looks to the right of the camera. Unflinching. We see a wide shot of the two, with Luke's legs in a defensive position, resting on his back leg. Darth Vader is just a large block due to the cape so he looks stronger, while Luke looks more ready to pounce, but cautious. The Lightsabers are crossed. Luke Swing rather gymnastically, with a wide swing over his head, and Darth Vader springs slowly into action, easily blocking the swing with little movement. Darth Vader, pushes Luke's Lightsaber back. Luke retreats to his former stance, and Darth Vader quickly wings his Lightsaber over his head, and then settles into a forward like stance with his arm, ready to poke. Cut to Luke, we see Darth Vader's Lightsaber at the bottom right. Luke lunges over with an overhead swing. Show a wide shot of Luke swinging over head, making contact with Darth Vader's Lightsaber. Luke moves very enthusiastically, while Vader remains almost still. A shot to behind Vader as Vader pushes Luke away, and down. 0.58

Production Of A Movie

Pre-Production

This is all about getting ready for the film. Hiring, Funding, Concepts, Casting, getting kit, Storyboards, testing and Hiring Crew. This section has the largest selection of roles and is almost as important as the finished product itself. This involves scouting for locations, as well as prop design. It's very expansive, and often sifts into the other stages of production. Marketing nowadays also is present through every stage. Story also follows suit, as it is likely to change during production.

Production

The making and shooting of the film. This involves shooting, lighting, acting , make up and the rest of the other roles to be expected. It also involves some unexpected things, such as catering. You need to feed your crew, and keep them healthy. When shooting outside this is all especially important. Food, water, housing, security; keeping the crew alive, as well as actually making the film.

Post-Production

This is after the film has been made. This stage involves editing, marketing, PR, making a trailer, getting a real soundtrack, getting sound, and releasing the film, both general and the premier. Films with heavy CG stay in this phase for quite a while, but that is to be expected, although in the future this may not be the case.

Blue's Brutal Demise...nom.

Stop animation film me and Rory Haresnape made in about an hour.

RIP blue

Darkness Light Darkness Jan Svankmajer

Well, this was an interesting animation. I've seen it before but so it was not as shocking as the first time, but I jut found it intriguing and entertaining. The animation is really smooth, but not smooth enough to be lifelike, but close enough. The use of using the plasticine as more then a unchanging model worked really well, and made the whole construction a little more believable, as it was...consistent. Like a process that may actually take place.

So a message...perhaps how we see the human body as something beautiful, but when we seperate it into parts we see the ugliness and ridiculousness of it all. Perhaps it's a fear of being finished, when you can no longer improve. Or perhaps a fear of puberty, hence the cock and balls being a scary monster and and the rest of the body being scary. These little details don't matter to a child, but as yiu grow up, it becomes a much more inportant thing.
