Poster Analysis
Pulp Fiction's poster is a classic. It speaks of the era it is set in, inspired by the short stories in books shown in similar covers, even with the tearing, speaking of age. The font is heavy and striking. I like how her feet go over the title, it makes the poster seem more alive. The shot also shows a lot of context, such as her hand on a book, and a gun rests on a pillow. It captures the attention of the audience. The title is so different from the rest of the poster, being just bold and just colour. This conflict helps make it more striking. Under the title Tarantino is mentioned, welcoming fans to come back and watch this new film, and so when you think Pulp Fiction, you think, Tarantino, which really helps a director become known for their work. The poster is symmetrical, with a face in the centre, and her legs up to the right, and a lamp shade to the left.
Suicide Squad always had interesting branding. Colours pop and clash. Most superhero movies are dull, just brown and grey, since they seem to be obsessed with being edgy, trying to convince everybody comics are not for kids. Suicide Squad embraces the absurdity of comics and uses it to it's advantage. And because they did, it is a breath of fresh air for many. It seems pretty expensive to make, because of the many colours and how may different assets there are. it has a homemade, authentic feel, with the almost crudely stuck on heads. It also has a lot of drawings, adding to this home made feel, as if it was torn out of a schoolboy's textbook by a teacher, during class, while he was busy fantasising about all his favourite villains coming together as a team. The font used is very chunky, using only capital letters, and with no flourishes. Very simple to read, and striking. The Q replaces with a skull also makes me think of doodles in a kids book, which adds to this message that "This movie is a dream come true, and is a labour of love for the genre"It is mostly symmetrical. It appeals to children because of the bright colours, it appeals to fans of superhero movies and Harley Quinn appeals to the horny masses.
Photoshop: How it effectively manipulates images
Photoshop has a plethora of useful tools, which make it arguably the most well received image editing program to ever exist. When my grandparents know that Photoshop exists, that is more then enough evidence for its popularity.
Using photoshop you can change the colours in an image, add tints and other effects, which can drastically change an images effect on an audience. For example a perhaps graceful picture of a horse in a field, could be altered to become the poster for a disaster movie involving the Dread Lord, dark ruler of the void, but in horse form. Exposure plays a large role in this. Using exposure you could instead make the poster about a holy horse summoned from the heavens to save a hellish scorched earth instead, surrounding the horse in holy light, etc.
It is commonly used for small changes, such as making actors look more appealing, removing spots with the spot tool, and cleaning up messy beards and sleepy eyes, into more clean and energetic ones. It is also possible to change hair colours, and eye colours rather easily, unless things become more elaborate. Of course comedic changes are also possible, such as face switching, etc, which to be honest, is only limited by the users knowledge and imagination. If perhaps you have a poster downloaded of a favourite film, but one actor ruins the poster, with photoshop, you could remove this actor completely from existence! Well just from the image. But you can dream...

Sound And Film Analysis: Death Of Gandalf
The scene starts off with music. Balrog becomes the focus and there is silence, as characters are in awe. Footsteps of Balrog. Roars and chase, music returns. Drums and horn increase tension. Gandalf on the bridge, silence, very quiet music, just sound affects. Music rises. After fall music disappears. Whip. No music. Reactions and Gandalf says, Fly you fools. Music, no other sounds. Arrows whiz past but no sound. We imagine how it sounds. Cuts to reactions. Aragorn breaks the silence.
Ever since I was little I always really liked this scene. It always stayed with me. I'm not sure why. It may be because the scene is so different from the rest of the film. I like how the audience can only hear the music. For me this made me imagine the sounds of he other things that were muted, such as arrows clattering against rock, and footsteps, which were both visually shown in the centre of the frame, so the audience can clearly see it, as our eyes follow aragorn.

Imbedded Film
Peer Assessment is a good practise, because not only do you give one person helpful constructive criticism, but you also give the other person experience in making a critique for other peoples work, which can translate to their own, helping them make better films.

Silent Film: Styles And Conventions
My silent film adheres to the styles of the silent film genre in many ways:
1. All of our actors used very exaggerated movements to clearly convey what was being shown. This is to make up for the lack of dialogue and the lack of colour.
2. We also made our film black and white and have black banners on the side of the film to reflect the technology of the age.
3. We have the fancy classical music of the era to add to this style.
It would be better if, we all had more experience. During the making of the film, many scenes were changed or even conceived on the fly, and so this meant some scenes could of been better, if we were more professional.
If our music was set in time with the plot, this would of conveyed to the audience what emotions the characters were experiencing more clearly, but because this is a long, and hard process, we did not attempt this, because we had little time, and were slowly losing our patience, and it requires a lot of work.

Embed video test
Here is a vide supposed to be viewed from a wide screen. You can see how it fits screens really well, and neatly.
This is a video supposed to be view from smaller, mobile devices. You can see how the video is shot with a smaller camera then the other example. It is more pleasant to watc husing a smaller screen that fits this video.
I personally prefer the wider screen option This gives me more space to play around and experiment. Using mobile only can be very limiting and that might make a possibly good video, a lot less entertaining, since all the visuals have to be tightly packed together.
For my own video I have a choice between these 2. I'm personally leaning towards a wider screen, but if I use a smaller screen, it might make something a little less generic. However since it's my first photo-mation, perhaps I should make my job a little easier and incorperate the wider shot, so I can experiment more.
Demographics
So what are Demographics? They are a way to organise groups of people into subcategories. Often used in business. For example a group of people may include people of different races, from different locations, and who are different in a number of ways. Businesses use demographics to appeal to their target audience. People from one subcategory may not like what somebody from a different subcategory will like, and so they are instead sold things which the will prefer. This is also a large part of film. Many young children may enjoy "technicolour candy floss trees adventure 2!"but some adults may not, and are more drawn to more mature films. This is demographics.
It is important because otherwise movies (that may be really good ) may just fail, because they are shooting at an audience that will not appreciate their film, and not because they are bad. This is also important in advertising. An advert designed for young teens may not appeal to a older audience, and so the film will lose sales. Using their demographics the film can reach the largest audience and so, make the most money possible.

Font And Typeface
So what's the difference? It turns out it's pretty tough to find out, as different sources have told me different things. However this seems to be the right one...hopefully.
TYPEFACE is the STYLE of the words, like inescapable boring wrath of New Times Roman or the dreaded Comic Sans. It could be seen as a family tree.
FONT is the things you can ADD to these. Their DIFFERENCES. Using the family tree analogy, it is like the children, who are different from biological parents. This could be using italics, or becoming more condensed, and the menagerie of other things you can do nowadays.
Arial BLACK is a font. Arial is a TYPEFACE.

What is the difference between Serif and Sans-Serif?
Serif is when you have extra flourishes, and fancy things added to letters. Sans-Serif has none of these.
"Leading determines the amount of space between lines in a paragraph. Tracking is the spacing between characters in a line of text. Kerning increases or decreases the spacing between certain pairs of. letters, like AV, which look better if their boxes overlap slightly."
Leading is the space of the lines between different lines of text.
like this
"tracking (letter-spacing) adjusts spacing uniformly over a range of characters. In a well-kerned font, the two-dimensional blank spaces between each pair of characters all have a visually similar area."
In english that means, Tracking is the spaces of letters in one word, kerning is to change the space between induvidual letters.
The grid is a grid used to organise content. It makes it easier to see differences between characters, and spot different parts of the letter.

My First post-The comedy of other's misfortune
A long time ago a greek philosopher (not sure who), said (well pretty closely to this):
"Living through life often feels like a tragedy, but reading about other peoples' lives often makes it look like a comedy." (close enough, you get the jist)
This quote was also adapted by the amazing Charlie Chaplin, who said "Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot."
And this little piece of human personality has been exploited in recent years. Tv shows such as You've Been Framed, and billions of internet fail videos are crazy popular, going viral like digital STI's and it all traces their roots back to this.
And as I grow older, this sentiment has never strayed far from the truth, well at least when it does when it does not concern myself. But that's the nature of it. And for some reason, that's funny to me.
