Board game Evaluation

At first i attempted to think of a game to do.

I thought of the most popular games, and my favourite games. I tried to come up with a few prototypes. I went quite far through one idea before giving up and moving on to a personal favourite. I remembered the quote which I am probably butchering right now "Rules are what make a game." Basically a game with no rules is a weak game. A game with many rules often drowns out fun. So I took both approaches. A game with strong, but simple rules. And this is why it as the best game to do.

I made BOXX a simple game, easy to learn, but difficult to master. It is simple enough for a new player to keep up, but has enough substance to make those who look deeper find there are many strategies to find, perfect and use. Every game will always hint at something else you could of done, and perhaps the discovery of new traps.

I knew for a fact this game can maintain a loyal fan base, from personal experience. When me and my friends played this game in class, hiding and faking it for work, we kept on coming back to it. It keeps people in, and those who are new and play against a expert will have instead of a swift defeat, have time to analyse and figure out what the opponent is doing and this process allows them to get better at a quicker pace then the experts. Losing a game isn't defeat. Defeat is when you learn nothing new.And this game and it's fan base knew this. Noobs quickly change from salty defeat to more of a wondering mindset when they try to discover what actually happened because games are slower and players take turns. And for most games making a new player do this is a feat, but my game, because it's rules are so simple and so grounded, the process to gain knowledge is accelerated and the player will feel engaged to learn more, because during a single game they already get a taste of high level play and it is just within their grasp, and as they play they see these traps being deployed against them, and can watch them while they work.

For long time players the game is really good at hooking them in. Once they figure out their strategies they can deploy and watch them go to work. it is a great feeling when you discover a trap and only you know about it, and use it for the first time. However with great power, comes great risk. Use a trap and you teach your opponent how the trap works, use turn switches too much and risk the enemy using them against you. Once you learn the basics and begin to dig into deeper strategies mind games come into play, watching your opponents eyes, where their hands drift, how they react to your lines. Once stakes become high you find yourself searching for anything to predict your opponents moves. And the amazing thing about this game is it can always surprise. Traps and turn switches can turn against you, and not just that, but you can always discover something new. I played a friend at my game, I used some strategies against them, and they began to pick it up. And by accident they discovered a new trap. A first time player helped me, who has played for few years, learn something I never knew about. It helped me understand the bare fundamentals and because of this knowledge I have started to try out fresh new strategies nobody has ever seen before.

But the game is never going to be too complex for anybody to master, and that can be a good or a bad thing. The entire list of rules only spans 3 bullet points! Some say a game which can never be mastered is a good game, and a testament to is design, while some say an easy game is better.

Personally a bit of both is the best type of game. A game where you learn more things is a game that keeps people coming back. My only regret is that since the rules are so simple, and the game so simple, that people who lack the curiosity to learn will grow bored (board ha!) of them game before they learn about more.

This game is a perfect game for small groups such as groups of friends and families, where the game is played multiple times against different opponents, but in a small enough group where information is easier to share and easier to find. This is why it worked so well with my friends. It was easy to find information since there was only a small group to search, and since the game was so quick to start playing, playing a game during a break was not a big deal. All you needed was 2 people, a pencil and a piece of paper. And if you couldn't find a experienced player, play someone new, and they can quickly pick it up after 1 game.

And if you begin to get bored of the basic game, add new rules, and even add more players to a single game, the game can take many forms, and by adding 1 extra rule, the game becomes something new. Old tricks won't work and new tricks will be made. Because of this, longevity becomes even more lengthened and the heights the game can reach is only limited by the players ability to imagine and create new twists on the game.

Board Game; Basic Box

Here it is. I will add colour later. You can switch the paper out, which is key to a new worth while product. You draw on a sheet of plastic, which is tough and saves wasting paper.
I like that I actually finished the product, but I am not fully happy with the quality. I would have preferred if the space between paper and plastic be smaller, and that the box was made from wood, and perhaps smaller. I could add a little area to store the other paper sizes and the pens used.

I will be adding an instruction page, which includes optional rules. I will highlight hints at possible strategies but not reveal the secrets. Learning on your own is more rewarding, and is more exciting and keeps people hooked since they put the effort in, and got a reward.

BURN OUT research and sound scape

I will watch other moves and other media of a similar ilk (Orwell big brother) and the other college films previous years.

I will write down all the good things, bad things. i will see what i can bring over. i will get people to read the screenplay and see what they think of it. make the correct changes.

I am unsure about current sound scape, but i do know about some. i need a anthem sounding song, or a happy advert song as cold.Co's national anthem.

I need music that suits a lazy morning and breakfast, as well as the joy of family and just having friends in a lonely world.

Flash Animation: Frame By frame

I was meant to draw a bouncy ball but it began to turn into a liquid, and from there I decided screw it and went as wild as i could.

Flash Animation: Timeline

The time line is directly below the image you are working on. This area keeps track of frames, and different layers during frames. Using the timeline you can easily make, and edit animations, while keeping it organised. You can play, pause, and fast forward and rewind. There are a number of useful tool here such as using the Onion skin, the ability to loop, to change markers, and to centre frame.

Without a timeline animation would be really tricky, and keeping track of different scenes and frames would become a mighty task. Using the timeline, animations that may of been too time extensive keeping track of the scene, can now become a reality.

Audio script draft

Deep in the (mostly tame landscape) I : Herbert J. Jonathan Archibald Fitzgerald Dewitt III Esquire, famous explorer extroidinarre! armed only with a camera, and my wits: DE WITTS, am traversing this dangerous and wild wilderness, in search of a beast. A beast too gruesomely hideous for even a mother to love! A beast so murderous Jason Vorhees- no, Jason Vorhhes and Jack The Ripper combined are both to shame. A beast with a roar so foul Evanescence would be- SQUIRREL!

...Evanescence would be out of a job.

I am of course talking about the legendary Chimeracorn- Half Chimera(Which is half lion, half goat, half snake), half Manticore (Half Scorpion, Half Lion) THATS 2 HALFS LION NOW, and half unicorn (Half Horse Half Narwhal). Thats a mighty total of 6 halfs! Anything with that many halfs is truly a force to be reconed with! Most people tell me "Herbert, why don't you get a real job? that creature does'nt exist" And I tell them! No! Chimeracorns do exist! They have a very elaborate backstory, ill have you know. "No please don not have me know," and I would reply, alright I won't let you know, and begin to be consumed by bitterness.

Now the legend of the Chimeracorn is an epic of the ages! Out in the wilderness of the new world I Herbert J.Jonathan Fitzgerald Dewitt III esquire, was out on on an expedition that had been Ill have you know VERY SUCCESSFUL. During the night I heard a strange sound, and there stood/flopping outside of my tent was the beast itself! The Chimeracorn! It destroyed all of my research, and tore all my clothes and ate all my food! Thats why I returned home empty handed, butt naked, and screaming like a lunatic! obvoiusly It wasnt because I Accidently set my tent on fire, and obvously not as a cover up for my lack of ground in the explorers inner circles, oh no!It was the beast i tell you!

And so I went back into the wilderness, to have my revenge! I would record the beast and bring it home, dead or alive. Now now I understand that there has never been footage of the beast, and seemingly only i know it exists, but you must trust me, it is real! Evidense? Evidense smevidense who needs evidense? here i am recording some more animals...not the Chimeracorn, not inportant. And here yes, a (thing of the thing variety) and...wait WHAT IS THAT?! (xfiles music) is that the...no just a tree. (talk about more animals and slowly drown out.) and yes i am sad to announce i never caught footage of the beast, but thats not proof that there is no Chimeracorn, it just means it was very..sneaky yes. Come on belive me, who needs evidense just belive my words! The yeti, and bigfoot are real, and is there any evidense? nooooo? Well i tell you they exist, so just listen and belive.

Wait what is that? (animal sound) what????!!! its...its horrible! 2 halfs lion, 1 half scorpion, 1 half horse and half narwhal! What it actually exists!/ i mean of course it does! No let me go, no dont eat me, no, help me gaaahahahahahahhahhhhhh

Myth Hunters; Bonza Bottler Day edition! Last time on Myth Hunters Walking (fart)

"Whoa did you hear that? Definitely Paranormal Activity!"

"Nope, sorry that was me"

This episode we learn the story of great fabled adventurer nobody has ever heard of and we doubt he actually existed "Herbert J. Jonathan Archibald Fitzgerald Dewitt III Esquire, famous explorer extraordinaire" and his mysterious disappearance. Born in 1896 in Flat Bottom, Looondooon. Date of death unknown. His parents were highly regarded in the scientific circles, and in their pass time enjoyed giving out shock therapy. As a child Herbert had explorer blood... in his blood, and after following in his parents footsteps left one morning in his dingy, waving his goodbyes to a large crowd of 2 people. Leaving for the new world, he said "I am leaving for the new world, goodbye." And he left. But what he found when he got there...will change history, forever. This is his story.

"Uh, is this on? Oh yes, jolly good, tallyho, cheese grommet"
"Deep in this unforgiving wilderness, I Herbert J. Jonathan Archibald Fitzgerald Dewitt III Esquire, famous explorer extraordinaire, armed only my camera, my moustache, and my Dewitts, i am tracking the greatest game of all...Adventure. I have not found it yet, I'll let you know when I do.

We then learnt from historical documents that Herbert returned home after the long 5 hours of his voyage. The footage is damaged but we presume Years pass and we find him again in the new world. His transformation is disturbing...we advise our viewers the following images are highly disturbing.

"I have been tracking the beast for months now. "

"What beast?" (mimic in bold)

"Well I am glad you asked tree. I am of course talking about the...Chimeracorn" (lightning)

"What's that?"

"...Half Chimera (Which is half lion, half goat, half snake), half Manticore (Half Scorpion, Half Lion) THAT'S 2 HALVES LION NOW, and half unicorn (Half Horse Half Narwhal). That's a mighty total of 1 2 3 4 5 6-6 halves! Anything with that many that many halves is truly a force to be reckoned with! "

"Herbert, why don't you get a real job? No such thing exists."

"No! Chimeracorns do exist! They have a very elaborate back story I'll have you know"

"No, please do not let me know"

"Tough! I'm telling you anyway!"

"During the night of my first day in the new world, I heard a noise outside of my tent. I bravely opened the tent up and I saw ... IT. There it stood...and flopped : The Chimeracorn. Using it's fire breath it brought my tent, and myself ablaze! "

"Uh huh"

"It burned my countless pieces of evidence supporting my countless discoveries! I then engaged in an epic battle against the setting sun and then after a good ol' one two the beast fled, tail and fin between it's legs! I returned home, although...in not quite as suitable attire"

"You ran home butt naked, along a beach of hundreds of people, drooling and screaming like a billy goat! You were a disgrace!"

"I was very brave! And awesome! And very well dressed considering the epic battle and the blaze!

I returned home and told the people of the beast! I learnt of the beast's history. Long ago the Goat god Thod fought with the other gods. He thought humans were a gross abomination and after eating his family, defecated on the earth. Then born from the boiling magmas of the earth a beast was born. This beast then met man, and man worshipped him. The worlds greatest civilisation was born. Thousands of years pass and then there was a great war. The Egiptian Pharow belived that the beast would grnt her immortality and control over the mortals and so she captured the beast. The beast was then eaten. Then years later the pharow grew ill and suddenly transformed into the beast and killed ev-

"Alright, Alright, I get the picture"

And I was very calm and not yelling like a madman at all. It was very well received! Everyone believed me!"

"You mean-"

"I MEAN WHAT I SAID!"
"I then left again, and vowed never to return until I brought the beast back dead, or alive!"

"But the Chim-thing it d-"

It does exist! There's no recorded footage, or anybody who has been said to see it and tell the tale, but who needs evidence?

"I do-"

SHUT UP! LISTEN AND BELIEVE! IT EXISTS BECAUSE I TELL YOU IT EXISTS! Oh wait, is that it? Did you see that? (oh it was just a tree)

...

"And here I am, living the lie. talking to myself like madman. I guess I better head ho-"

What was that sound? It was outside of my tent, right behind me.

OH MY! WHAT IS THAT?! Half-no-2 halves lion, 1 half goat, 1 half snake, 1 half scorpion, 1 half Horse, 1 half Narwhal!

Ohmygod- IT EXISTS! I WAS JUST LYING AS AN EXCUSE FOR BEING A TERRIBLE EXPLORER! AHHHH GOD NO LET GO. DONT EAT ME! NO THOSE ARE MY LEGS. NOT YOURS! AHHH AHHH GAHHH GAHAHAHHAHAH

...................................................................................................................................................................

And that was the last the world saw of Herbert J. Jonathan Archibald Fitzgerald Dewitt III Esquire, famous explorer extraordinaire.

Flash Animation

There are lots of different ways to animate in flash.

You can animate frame by frame, which is meticulous, but if done well, I personally would say offers the best effect.

You can use tweens which seems to be, move an arm from point a to point b. Flash then fills in the blanks.

You can use motion presets which are canned animations already in flash.

Here is a list from a helpful guide, link will be underneath.

  • Create motion tweens and eases: To create motion-tweened animations, you create a tweened instance on a span of frames, and then make one or more changes somewhere on that span of frames. Flash then creates the animation that would occur to transition between those changes. Flash varies the object's size, rotation, color, filter, or other attributes between the changed frames you made to create the appearance of movement or motion, such as an instance moving across the Stage or fading in and out—or both at the same time. You can also use eases (preset eases or your own) to control the movement or appearance of your instances. To learn more about creating motion tweens and using eases, see Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Motion tweens and "Adding preset and custom eases to motion tweens" in Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Preset and custom eases.
  • Create frame-by-frame animations: In frame-by-frame animations, instead of letting Flash automatically fill in the movement between two changes, you create the image in every frame. This is much like a "flip book" animation in which you draw each subtle change manually, and when the images are watched in succession, the subtle changes create the illusion of movement. For more information, see "Creating frame-by-frame animations" in Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Frame-by-frame animation.
  • Apply motion presets: Motion presets include numerous pre-made animations that you can apply to instances on the Stage, which you can use as-is, for learning purposes, or as a starting point for further modification. Motion presets make it easy to animate a selection: you can simply make the selection, then choose a Motion Preset and click Apply. With motion presets, you can make things move in your document with pretty much no knowledge of animation. For information on motion presets, see Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Motion presets.
  • Use tween instances: A very useful feature where you can give a motion tween an instance name and apply that motion to other instances in your document. For more information on using tween instances, see "Using Tween instances" in Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Using ActionScript 3.
  • Copy ActionScript 3 code and apply it to instances in your document: If you don't want to write code at all, you can create animation on the Timeline and then "copy" the equivalent ActionScript 3 code for that animation and apply it to an instance. See Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Using ActionScript 3.
  • Create shape tweens: Shape tweens are used to create morphing movements, such as paths that bend, or circles that change into squares. For information on creating shape tween animations, see "Creating shape tweens" in Animation Learning Guide for Flash: Shape tweens.
  • Use inverse kinematics: You can make things move in Flash CS5 using the inverse kinematics (IK) feature. As much as we think IK is kind of cool, the Animation Learning Guide for Flash doesn't cover this feature; read about it in the Graphic Effects Learning Guide instead. Also you can watch the IK screencast tutorial by Todd Perkins on Adobe TV, read "Animating with the Bone tool" in Creating animation in ActionScript 3, and learn from Character animation with the Bone tool by Chris Georgenes.
  • Write ActionScript code: You can create animation by writing ActionScript code—sometimes called "scripted animation." There are different ways you can manually script animation: writing ActionScript to handle all aspects of the animation or using prebuilt classes and simpler code to create animation. This Animation Learning Guide for Flash does not cover scripted animation. You can learn about scripted animation in the article, Creating animation in ActionScript 3.

Here he is. I just finished drawing him up

I will make him walk across the screen. i could make him bob up and down with each step but for now, i think i will just make him glide across

Here's the gif. First i made him glide. Then I tried making him walk with bobbing up and down. It looked awful and I gave up. Here it is.

Gustavo

Here is Gustavo. He is an suicidal but immortal skeleton. He defies all laws of science. i hate drawing a bottom jaw so he wont have one. His emotion will be shown by the shape of his head, and his eyes and posture, like that mammoth from Ice Age. Most of the time he is unhappy and even suicidal, but of course is immortal. cant drown, no lungs, etc. he wants to change his life.

If he had dialogue most of the time he would be using deadpan comedy, as he finds his circumstances normal while everyone else is freaking out because there is a spooky scary skeleton walking around

He wears a pink shirt to constrast with his sad demeanor, and to make sure i dont have to draw a pesky rib cage. Im thinking of giving him shoes.

Board Game: Rules

Basics

Each player takes turns drawing a line from one dot to another. They cannot draw diagonal lines. You can only draw one line per turn.

When a square is made with four lines, the player who finishes the square gets a point. Mark the square with a letter or icon, and count them all at the end.

1.
     2.   3.
4.

This is player A's point because they finished the square.

The player with the most squares at the end wins!

Extra rules

If you feel like you want to try a different kind of game, change the rules.

1. When you make a square, gain an extra line to put where you want.

This rule makes basically all traps in normal games obsolete. Using this rule will mean you will need to create new strategies, and think through the game differently.

You can come up with your own twists as well. Experiment and make your game how you want!

Board Game: Questionnare

1. Did you have fun playing my game?

2. Were you able to understand the rules
 and play with no trouble?

3. Did you manage to figure out any traps and strategies to win over your opponent?

4. If you answered no to above should I add examples of these strategies in the rulebook, or whould it be better if a player figured it out themselves?

5. Would you recommend the game to anyone you know?

6.  Do you think the game is good for re-playability

7. Do you think the game is lacking in any way?

8.

9.

Board Game: Peer Assessment

Peer Assessment:

Rory's Snakes And ladders variant with Chuthulu.

it follows the normal common place elements of snakes and ladders, and puts it on a dark Lovecraftian aesthetic. After upping the difficulty, Rory then added another layer, by adding a battle, which gave players points. Rather then a race to the end, it was abut the journey, and this made the game a much more fun experience. Twists and turns and we switch places and roles, and by the end it was a really close call. I'm impressed he managed to make a boring game like snakes and ladders into an exciting experience.

Rules were basic, but easy enough to understand. I don't think that the new rules and aesthetic warrant buying the game again if you already have snakes and ladders, but it most definitely is worth  a try. I don't believe it is good for the market because it is still very similar to snakes and ladders and hardly deviates from this basic premise, and that feels like more of a copycat then a whole new game.

Board Game: Rationale

My game fulfils all the criteria

  1. Is smaller then A3
  2. Is not harmful in any way
  3. Has tradition elements (board and a square grid)

My game is easy to pick up and hard to master. The seemingly simple rules are always reliable, and so strategy is easy to create and change as rules are simple to understand.

My game can be picked up by anyone pretty much, even a little child can understand the basic premise. This game is good for playability, owing it to different opponents, using different rules, and discovering the easy to create strategies.

My packaging and logo are minimalistic but colourful, taking notes from Monopoly and Scrabble, as well as Chess, Majong, and Dominoes. The board itself is very simple, but perhaps boring...However it is clear to see and is best for people to see what is happening in the game, which personally is more important then pretty colours. But often more is less, and this is why I chose the minimalist aesthetic.

My audience is Teens to adults primarily, but any age can play because of the simplicity of the rules. From personal experience this game is very favoured among young adults to adults, but almost none of them know the name to the game. With my product a true name will be established and this will prove fruitful, as whenever someone wants to find the game, they will fins us first as the one coining the mainstream name.

he problem with the original game is that drawing the dots took too long, and sizes were often too big or too small. With my game this can be changed and it meticulously tested to make sure that using the small template will make a small game. The players can switch the size f the board at will. On top of the box is a glass or plastic surface. this allows the players to rub off their marks and see through the material.

The original game however was great for portability and for hiding. The game now is not like that. this box cannot be folded and hidden away, however on a bus or train or car this would be fine, but in class, it's not very inconspicuous

However my game is much better at making sure the players have the best experience.

However this product fails. The games' magic was anybody can play all you needed was a pen and some paper. This brings the same game to less people and for a price. Nobody in their right might would bother buying this.

Board Game: Evidence Of Research

Here is the amazon list of Board Games most often bought this year.

Using personal knowledge and asking questions, Monopoly is the most popular, just because it is so wide spread.

More fun less rule heavy games are often advertised with flashier colours , while more rule focused hardcore games are Conservative in their advertisement and boxes

Board Game: Research Statement

I must do some research before I make and design my product. I researched the most popular titles and long lasting games. These include: Scrabble,Monopoly, and Chess. I analysed these games and their audiences. he best games are the games that have transcended generations, and can be easily passed down.

Games with more colours are often aimed at children, and games aimed for older audiences with a more mature game in mind, will have more conservative colour palettes.

My game is more mature and rule based, but any age group can play it, because of the games nature. So I was thinking of using a mixture, having a clean modern look with good colour, but not too much, s it is clear this is a game not a little waste of time for kids. I need to show the slow and then suddenly fast nature of the game, and the nail biting last few seconds.

To attract both children and adults I must reach out to both groups.

using personal experience i know that this game can hook and keep people in, and is really well take in my young adults and teenagers, especially since the original games nature was so it was really easy to hide, or feint as work.

Board Game: Analysis of Brief

CALL FOR PRODUCTS

An established game and toy company is seeking an original board game or a reworking of a popular title.

Individuals or small teams must design and produce a prototype using Adobe Photoshop.

Product guidelines:

  • Boards must not exceed international paper size A3.
  • Games should include traditional elements such as playing pieces.
  • Games must have a clear product identity (good name, logo, colour scheme, visual style, etc.)
  • Games must have a clear target audience.
Games must not be harmful or hazardous in any way.

The wants me o either make an original game, or a game based of a already existing game. It must not be larger then A3, must include tradition elements, such as dice, or playing pieces, so new players can easily pick up the game. The game must have a clear product identity, which sets it apart from the rest. The game must have a clear target audience, and must not be harmful in any way.

I will research the most popular games and my favourite games, and that will give me inspiration. I have a few ideas already, but all of them require more work then I might possibly be able to accomplish in this amount of time.

Tiger And Bunny Characters

Tiger And Bunny

Tiger And Bunny is an animated tv show based around superheroes. In a world where coca cola realises superman is perfect for advertising. About 40 years ago people began to be born with strange super powers. At fist humanity was scared of these people. But using a tv show, they became part of society. Hero TV was born. These NEXT's (the heroes) where filmed stopping crime, like our idea of a hero. After some time this business became very big, and companies often sponsored a hero. The more highly ranked the hero, the better for the business. Nowadays the heroes show off their sponsors and wait to save people for maximum effect for the show, and then get paid.

Appearance

A scruffy middle aged asian man that is no longer cool. When casual wears a shirt, overcoat, and a flat cap. He is unkept and has longish hair that seems to be un-neat. Is average height and average weight.

Background

He is a old time hero. As a kid he was scared and was shunned because of his powers. He became Wild Tiger a hero when he was young and has been a hero ever since. Recently he has dropped in popularity and his sponsors had to sack him, and drop out of the show. Another business picked him up, and made him pair up with rookie hotshot Barnaby Brooks Jr who is very popular and buys in the the whole modern hero business.

Personality

Tiger is old fashioned. He never reveals his secret identity like an old hero. He always cares about saving people more then ratings and points, often disobeying orders from the director because he wants to do his job, not pause for an ad break.

Works on instinct

Feels rather then thinks

Gets emotional

Clumsy

Tries to be the old fashioned hero like Mr Legend, his childhood idol.

Often excessive, causing more damage then necessary, but is reliable in a sense, as he will no matter what get the job done, even if it costs him his life.

Ambitious, does things way more excessively then is needed.

Doesn't care about others not liking him being himself

Laid Back

Career And Ambitions

He is a hero. he is falling in the ranks. All he really wants is his daughter to think he is cool still.

How others see him

The public see him as the hero who wrecks stuff and is old. The heroes see him as a unpopular hero. Many see his clumsiness and don't take him seriously. hose close to him know how caring he can be, never forgetting when someone is down, and always paying his debts to them. His age has granted him wisdom, and he often uses this to help his teammates. They will always see him as Bunny's sidekick and not the other way round, despite his experience.

Board Game Analysis and Rationale

However this product fails. The games' magic was anybody can play all you needed was a pen and some paper. This brings the same game to less people and for a price. Nobody in their right might would bother buying this.

Rationale

My game is a more streamlined, and more neat version of the Doctor Square, or Lines and Boxes game. There is a grid of dots. 2 or more people can play. There are many ways to play but this is my way: Each player takes turns in making 1 line. When a player finishes a square with 4 lines you write their letter or emblem or what have you to show they have earned a point. The game ends when every square is made. The winner has the most squares. Very simple, but opens up to deep strategy. Learn how to set up traps, turn switches, lures and an assortment of other strategies. Other ways to play also open up new ways to play. As i found playing the game one way drastically changes the game. For example a trap in one version will help the other player in another, and so the game provides longevity and replay.

1. One line each. No excuses.

2. The player makes a square and gains an extra line to use

3. Come up with your own variants.

Cold fusion BURN OUT ideas

1.

Cold fusion is taken up by investors and the original creator is now obsolete in he new political landscape. Cold Fusion takes the world by storm and by the end of the decade have a monopoly on almost every market. Breaking into viechles and food production, and computers. The company becomes a superpower and begins to pull the strings. Cold Fusion propaganda and signs and trucks. The business becomes an orwellian sort of deal. Everyone needs power, and they have it. Its not really that much of a stretch to consider coca cola and kfc beginning to run communities as leaders, especially if humanity expanded into space and the public can travel as they please, where current political systems would struggle to keep such a large space in line. Money reigns supreme and businesses do just that, make money. Power is a constant, when theres technology power is needed. No matter the time period, after the 21st century, power is needed. Perhaps a rival power comes about and it starts a war. Perhaps this war is made a s a marketing deal, where the public must buy weapons to protect themselves, and this need for protection is all a set up. People these days arguing over if coke or pepsi is best or mac and pc, but in actual war, where coca coal flies its banner, led by trails of tanks, against the massive walls of pepsi land, draped in pepsi propaganda. "It's just business. Nothing personal. No hard feelings right?"

Could be set after the war? (if a war)

during the build up?

chronological?

Perhaps focuses on the enforcers of the Cold Fusion police as they explore a city and go about their rounds.

Focusses on the scientist

focusses on a normal family coping with the change, as they go about their day, buying their breakfast ColdFusion.Co waffles, and going on the bus seeing the adverts and keeping in line with the enforcers. Perhaps there are no parents as the parents were taken for not following brand loyalty, being a traitor to the brand. Perhaps instead escapees being pursued by the police. This lets us see both sides of the story, rather then a one sided story where the police are faceless bad guys which is unrealistic.

Signs on people in the streets of brand traitors.

Instead of an anthem the cold fusion advert theme song plays as people put hands on hearts as sing.

I have an idea of the branding of the film. I could set it up like a product, or as a resistance poster.

Ambient theme song or parade music to hint at anthems. It's semi spooky.

Perhaps show adverts.

KEEP IT POSSIBLE AND CHEAP TO MAKE.

2. more detail

Characters in the family

Older sibling. Has taken parents place juggling responsibilities. is worn out, and more cynical. Is determined to escape the cold.co territory. is angry at the new government. works everyday, walks younger to school. everyday puts change in a big jar.

Younger sibling. happier and more full of life. finds it hard to remember parents and this makes her lonely but has her older sibling. never knew a life without cold.co and is ignorant of the past.using the old and new we can compare the different generations outlook on the new society. hates not knowing where she came from. leads to her not respecting her parents. this angers older.

A parent character. provides comfort and advice for the older character. reassurance and helps out. A softer approach then older sibling, and calmer and more gentle. helps older calm down, as older is often overwhelmed. a voice of reason. intelligent. tries to push the others in the right direction and keep out of trouble. would like to be romantic with older. actually really lonely, acts nice to fill that void.

A quiet kid who never speaks. older then younger. younger then older. lost parents and never got over it. Younger sibling is friends. older is almost amazed how not even remembering her parents she can still act like a mother. When they play house. younger asks what daddy and mummy would do in a situation. shows the damage cold.co can do.

And a person everyone mentions as going missing. is a revolutionary who got executed.

Black
Wakes up. eyes open. (close up on eyes, zoom out to head )see shift left. reaches for alarm clock on left ( shot from below side of the bed ) shot of time and the brand on alarm clock as hand lazily presses stop. previous shot.

Either before or after this dress up sequence wakes up younger

Shot on face one eye is open watching and when the older comes close it shuts and as hands shake shoulders attempts to not wake up, trying to contain laughter. shows their relationship.

Feet hit the ground, moderately dirty. left, right. Shot up on head, right of the screen. alarm on left. IN the space on the left title comes up. Music starts. person stands up. turns. shot over the shoulder at the mirror. tired, warn down. another day. gets dressed, slips on a shirt, legs shoved into trousers, see a straightened tie, black blazer perhaps pulled on and straightened from the side. see shoulder. hand brushes past a door as it shuts, from the side.

Feet down steps from side.
See some form of shot to show a breakfast table (preferably a shot of the stairs on the right in front of us, person slides around the banisters walks down a hallway on the right, which shows a table surrounded by people, in a bright room in comparison to the darker stairs)the younger one follows the same steps.

a shot from above geometry isometric as the two sit down coming from the left. one chair pushed away is empty.  put above a moving ceiling fan if possible.  two others sit there. the quiet one is spaced apart from the mature one. mature reads a newspaper. The older sits and pulls chair quickly knowing the younger will pull the chair. look back with a (not this time face). shot over the shoulder of older as they sit. eye peeks over the newspaper. shot from side of table on matures end. the younger happily walks around, left to right. and drags a chair to quiet. quiet becomes more responsive and smiles and looks to the left. younger talks and the quiet nods. shot over left shoulder of older, we see the little ones communicating. cereal boxes set apart the mature from the young and quiet. mature happy but envious and wishful of the younger ones. mature eyes gesture towards them, newspaper moving. trying to get a message to older. shot on older not getting the hint. shot on mature putting down a newspaper still left open and trying to somehow gesture a response from older. Older gets more confused. Shot to mature. Mature opens themselves up with their posture, hoping for a response.

mature:"Arnt you gonna say hi, good morning or anything to me?" (wants to be close but older pushes them away in fear of losing them like they lost their parents)
Older:"Oh oh, right. yeah, good morning.' (realising and trying to make for lost time) (eyes flash with surprise and then drift of in regret, and drift back to their bowl, careful to make sure they don't get too close with matures eyes, meeting for a second. shoulders slumped over a table, raised in surprise)
eyes switch to mature eyes getting happier, back to shot of older, as they slump over their bowl in embarrassment.
Mature; oh what am i going to do with you. You wont get a (opposite sex of mature) or a (same sex as mature) with that kind of a (mimics a deadpan straight face, moves head from side to side with each word)"good-morning" .
older; oh yeah? Like who? (semi interested, peeks over a raise spoon of cereal)
mature: we-well somebody...maybe..(terrible at hiding it), {looks for an escape, and thrusts a newspaper to hide themselves.}
Older:"Hopefully nobody as cryptic as you"
Shot to mature hiding behind paper, hands clench, and body drops more. Perhaps make a head slam sound, and plates jump, in insinuate a head slam behind the paper.

Shot to older head turns to wall, camera moves to clock. Moves back to older older is surprised and in shock. bowl is pushed towards camera. Shot on the side as boxes and jars and bags of sugar black. older reaches over to younger. grabs for younger shoulder .Face on older serious. WE GOT TO GO Quiet is giggling. young turns around to reveal balancing spoons on their nose.

"Do we have to?"

YES.

head is slumps, and spoon falls.
OK.

Shot from side as older drags younger through hallway by hand. shot outside as older swings out of door, see table through door,, younger says bye and waves. older says nothing. mature sighs wishfully.

As older walks quick pulling younger , shot from front, tie flying over shoulder, but hands are full. Shot to younger , above younger, we see older breast pocket. Younger looks up. Do I have to go to school?..head is is sad...its scary.

Older: life is scary (insert name ), but sometimes we have to do it anyway. realises the harshness. And hey, afterwords maybe i can get you some ice cream
"But its freezing" younger
..but its never too cold for ice cream! older
(possibly slip in ice)

Pass people in the street with the signs of Brand traitor they look sadly at the couple. Shot of behind the people. panning. we follow the walking pair and they go down the street. Hand is clenched tighter.

Reach school and say bye. older says how much they hate leaving younger alone.

Older leaves and gets to work, ability to show more world, possibly a bus or train full of cold co adverts.

Works in a supermarket all cold co. packs them all on shelves, cold co, coldco, coldco.
remembers back before. is good, but then turns bad. shot on eyes clenching and opening. weirded out customers carefully walk around older. sot from above to sow distance, possibly on top of an isle. we see the ridiculous pricing, and older offers the reason. as cold co has a monopoly they raise prices. in the turf. those born here cant escape. buying other products means...zones out

boss asks and says they might have to be let off if they keep zoning out. older makes it clear they cant lose this job. without it they cant escape. They have to steal food.

get back and bring younger home. perhaps stops bullies about parents. perhaps  today was all about parents and she had no idea what to say. Asks about parents. Older tells. this lets us know that they here killed for being brand traitors.

walk by the same place from the opposite side. same shot. older sees and covers younger eyes, and holds them close. Shot to head height as we walk by the heads, all chopped off. They hastily keep going.
Is that what happened to mummy and daddy?
..yeah.

walk back. through door, younger runs up stairs. shot from up stairs as younger runs up, older looking up. Looks at jar. walks by jar full of change and put some in. from the side.

Sits down watching TV of cold co ads. Mature and older talk about kids, and older knows he must talk t younger about parents but does not know what to say.

Goes up and shes crying, shot through door as older walks up to see her crying. Quiet is there unsure of what to do.

Parents story is told and about him trying to escape, and he tells her to keep going and we can do it.

Goes down , and says that does not know if they can do it. mature tells them to have faith. Talks about things follow a course. things are as they should be. fate.

Older is cynical and says how if this is fate, its terrible and stupid. and bad future.

(we show how older cannot risk making any form of connection in fear of losing it like losing their parents. pushing possible caring relationship, what older really needs to keep going)

sleeps and repeat in time lapse. after the morning, time lapse of the jar slowly filling up narration.

things changed. they found us.

Shot of door opening in school over younger shoulder.  it is the enforcers. she is scared, and has tears welling up, remembers parents death.

older sees enforcers walk, lip syncs and figures out they are searching for them. manages to escape knowing that younger is in danger. open window curtains billow in the wind, a classroom awe stuck, evidence of a struggle, table flipped, perhaps bullet holes in walls, perhaps collateral damage and death. blackboard or whiteboard shot at , or damaged. door swings from bashed hinges.

Older running and makes the audience understand that they know younger would run home.
younger is running older is running. younger running in to middle of screen, and older the opposite to the middle.

kid runs and tries to hide at home under bed, and everyone is shot and killed. shot from the side in slow mo, as swat enters, beaches and shoots everyone. mature in destroyed. quiet tries to run and in sniped.

or a shot of younger face as she holds ears. hear gunshots and feet drag behind her. everyone is killed.

swat wont leave the house

older has to sneak in, and get in,

we see a hand go over younger mouth and a muffled scream. its older.

older and her get out and grab the jar

possibly a conflict

shot at as they leave or some form of weaponry

they start to escape, steal a car, or run. run down a road. more crowds chase. more and more and more. they get close to the border.

possibly younger is grabbed and gun to head.

older has a gun.

someones eyes widen.

black and gunshot.

end, leave on a cliffhanger .

Synopsis.............http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663662/synopsis?ref_=ttpl_pl_syn

Pacific Rim

Act 1: We are told by narration not shown annoyingly about the breach in the pacific ocean. We  are told how it changed everything. We see Kaiju destroying city, but finally defeated along with boring narration. At least massive monsters are cool. We then hear about how we started winning the fight. We are shown cool imagery. The we hear about how we are losing again. This is recent.

We then open up to the Gypsy Danger bros. Both seemingly excited and content. The recent events have not taken their confidence down a notch. We see them suit up and the mech getting ready whihc is pretty cool. It helped hype the fight. We hear the brief that the city must be defended and the small sailing boat is not priority. The duo ignore the order, and it is seemly over. Then Knifehead wrecks Gypsy Danger and we see it collapse. We are shown how tough they are. We see main mans brother die which could make us care. not me, I was more interested in big robots punching monsters. What really lets this movie down is bad dialogue and acting. The fights are dynamic , the soundtrack is good, but the acting and delivery is terrible. At least from gruff robot batman guy. Thats probably why we all prefer to look at the emotionless robots anyway. Plus robots are badass. Especially punching awesome monsters and battering them with big transport ships as a makeshift bat.

Act 2 : I digress, we then see years later our hero all washed up working on a wall we soon see crumble before our eyes as it shows a kaiju walking through like it was nothing. We then hear about the abolishment of the Jaeger program, to create conflict. We see another Jeager Striker Eurika finish the kaiju. We see this is humanity's only hope and that might make an audience care. Our hero is then visited by the old commander dude. He is convinced to come back by a superior actor.

End of second act: After killing the kaiju and plummeting to earth the duo is greeted with cheers.

Act 1 Normal to death

Act 2 Training to battle

Act 3 Battle to finalle
